So much has happened today. Our Prime Minister has been sacked (for Cooking!) and the American elections have taken a turn for the worse (cheating and corruption, again!).
But forget about that.
Today I made my booking to Nepal. I will battle the elements and climb to more than 17,000 feet, higher than I've ever been. I will spend a month there; I hope to write there, too: Go Tell it on the Mountain. Why do we go to the mountains?
We all must fight battles: against the boss, aginst the police, against our husbands or wives, our parents or children. But the most difficult battle is the battle against oneself.
That's why we go to the mountains, to battle, in the wide open and unforgiving spaces of the elements, against the inner demons that habitate ourselves.
I suppose that's why some people go the the sea, too.

Mick,
I am so envious. I have long wanted to go to Tibet or Nepal and just be at somewhere around 15,000 feet. I have no interest (nor do I think any human should) in summiting any peak over 20,000. Some spaces should be left w/o human impact. I would rather BE at an altitude where I can be with people and learn - so much to learn in this life.
