I just love studying History. Teaching at an international school, I don't deal much with American History, but that is certainly where my love of History began.
Today's lecture, on the History of Hip-Hop, is by the noted Historian KRS-One:
I love his comment: "when you look to other people for validation, that is the beginning of poverty."
Actually, I don't quite agree with it, though. Looking to other people for validation is very natural for a small child (Look, Mommy! I drew an airplane!), or even for a teenager. But when you begin to look to yourself for validation, that is the beginning of adulthood.
And that is what is so sorely missing from our educational system today.
