Well, the phone poll results are in: the overwhelming majority recommended I buy two tin cans and a some waxed string. Good idea--my new fancy phone is causing all sorts of headaches as I try to get it to video-phone, blog, sync, establish longitude and latitude, etc.
But at least I didn't buy Sony's new gizmo:
