Election Update

It's amazing how many people follow the American election. Last week, I spoke to Canadians, Indians, Australians, even a Dutchman, who all wanted to offer an opinion on the Vice-Presidential debate!

I still hope Obama wins. I certainly don't want to live in a country that's fighting pointless wars with a collapsed economy and a paranoid population, led by a half-wit, crippled, right-wing mumbler who has had melanoma four times and would be followed by a brainless, moose-hunting, Bible-thumping illiterate.

I remember when I was a kid: we read about President Andrew Jackson in the history books, and the books always made it sound like it was so cool that he was illiterate. Sorry, this isn't the 1830s anymore, and these times require an intelligent leader.

Things are getting better in the polls; Obama has taken the lead. I still think the Republicans will cheat, though. But now, their cheating has become more difficult because they must win all the swing states. That's a lot of cheating! Suppose you're trying to cheat on a math test that has six problems: if you know how to do five problems, but need to cheat on only one problem, that's a lot easier than cheating on all six problems!
