I have time on my hands, so I'm watching the Olympics on TV.
I don't cheer the USA. That's ridiculous. Watching the China vs. USA medal count is like watching a battle: who is the most efficient cheater?
Clearly, China is cheating. That 16-year-old, excuse me, 14 year-old, gymnast can't be more than 11 or 12. When you line up a team of "16-year olds" and none of them has ever touched a bra, you know something is wrong.
I'm sure the Americans are cheating, too. Obviously, they have in the past. But at least their gymnasts require bras.
As for Phelps, I don't like him, but I admire his accomplishments. Still, my gut feeling is that something is wrong. Just like when I was a kid, and I saw East German after East German, women with moustaches, winning gold after gold in the hammer and javelin.
When I was a kid, I secretly cheered the Cubans. My childhood hero was Teofilio Stevenson. It was my deepest secret. I told nobody, not even my brother. I was afraid that if I was discovered, I would be arrested and sent to a re-education camp and brainwashed into becoming a patriotic American.
Probably to Guantanamo Bay.
