Full Moon Badminton

Once nice thing about Thailand is the full moon holidays. Every three months there is a big Buddhist holiday, and they always fall on the full moon. Today is the beginning of the rainy season, when monks are supposed to stay put, because back in Buddha's day, traveling through India was difficult during the monsoon. It still is.

So, we have a holiday.

Of course, the tourists like to have full moon parties, where they eat magic mushrooms and dance and party all night, but I'm too old for that.

Instead, we just have a family holiday at the country house. The moon is so bright that lately we have been playing badminton until midnight. Poo always beats me.

"It's because you never move your big ass," she says.

"No, badminton is an Asian game. I have never really played it."

That's a lame excuse. Actually, she's right.
