Wow!

Wow! I can't believe it went so quickly but another year has passed and I'm one year closer to the grave.

What have I accomplished? I'm watching two boys grow up; they appear to be smart and joyful and they seem to do the right thing. Poo and I love each other more than ever. These are the important things and I should appreciate them while I can, because disaster can strike at anytime.

At school? I hope the students learned some mathematics in my classes and if they had fun, too, that's a bonus. I'm not learning as much as I would like to. For example, I still haven't learned Linux or acquired Mathematica. I feel stifled by the workload, but that helps me relate to the good students, who feel the same way.

The highlight of the last day was reading the literary magazine and finding the poem by Steffi (Miss First Principles). The first time I read it, I thought "Wow! That says everything I want to say about the tablet program and does so artfully!" The second time I read it, I thought, "Wow! That poem is passionate, well structured and clever in its wordplay." The third time I read it, I thought, "OK, that's good, but it can be better, and I need to talk to Steffi about word choice, line breaks, phrasing and mood."

I suppose that's why we go to school.
