Busy for Nothing

Tonight, about 5:30, Poo came and said, "I will cook your dinner now." She had bags of fresh food from the market.

"Oh, no, Poo!" I said, "I forgot to tell you--I will go to dinner with my friend!"

"OK," she said.

So, I went to dinner with my friend, also a teacher. We had fun, and, as usual, the conversation turned to complaints about work. He summed up the problems in three words:

"Busy for nothing. They like to keep us busy for nothing."

It's so true, but it affects students more than teachers. Students (and teachers) are given assignments for no other reason than to give us assignments. There are so many homework assignments, so many tasks, that really mean nothing, that are no use whatsoever, but why are they given? To keep us busy. People in power like to monopolize our time. Why? Because they have the power to do so.

While I was gone, Poo cleaned my room. Now that is busy for something!

"an idle mind is the devil's workshop" is what guides people in power. At least, I think so, never having been in power myself.

beats me... it's my third year at my present school and just this school year that they have asked foreign teachers to stand by the gate every morning to "greet" the students. feels really awkard just standing their for nothing instead of using our time preparing for our classes. anyway, im leaving soon...
