Merry Xmas

Merry Christmas to everybody--sorry I haven't been blogging lately.

Today was Christmas, and it was another wonderful day in Thailand. I must admit that I felt guilty because I didn't buy a single Christmas present, but I didn't receive one either. I am against consumerism, so like the old saying says: "be careful of what you ask for."

I guess I got one Christmas present: I ordered Poo (and helped her, too) to attack the Fibber McGee closet, or in our family, the Fibber McGee crib.

It was full of an extraordinary amount of junk. The bulk of it was presents that I have received, mostly from my students. Amazing stuff, including: an ancient Chinese compass, basketball shoes, boxes of ginseng tea, decorative drinking mugs, and a bottle of whiskey that was 18 years old at the time, but must be 21 years old by now.

The most interesting article was a piece of student artwork from my first year as a math teacher: a hand-drawn Sierpinski Gasket with incredible detail.

It was from Tavi Barak. I remember her well, and I hope she is doing fine.
