Thanksgiving

Jason managed to take the whole week off school. He spent most of it playing with me. He seems recovered now, but whenever I suggest that he should return to school, he starts coughing and declares: "I'm not feeling well."

On Friday morning, I realized it was Thanksgiving night back in California, so I called my sister Kate and my mother "Khun Ya Sally."

It was great to talk to them, and Jason loved it, too, even though he couldn't articulate more than "Hi" and "I love you."

After we hung up the phone, Jason hrriedly put on his shoes and went to the door. "Come on, Dad," he said, "hurry up, let's run."

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"To visit Kate and Khun Ya Sally; hurry, we have to run."

"Jason, you cannot run to California."

"Why not?"

"There's an ocean in between. You have to swim."

"Swim, huh?"

"Yes, swim."

"Then I don't want to go."

"Why not?"

"I'm not feeling well."
