I made it over the top.
About half the people who tried to walk over the pass didn't make it--either because they were sick, or they were traveling with someone who got sick. For those who couldn't walk, but were still determined to get over, you could rent a horse or donkey!
Helicopters were busy overhead. I met two people who eventually had to be evacuated by helicopter.
Now I'm in Kagbeni. The scenery has been spectacular, and I've made some good friends. Now I'm slowly returning to civilization. I still have a week of trekking left, and I will post again and include some photos when I get to Pokhara, where they have decent computers.
I am hoping that when I next see a computer, I will read about President-Elect Obama!
