A Ray of Hope

Today I had a terrible case of diarrhea, so I bought three packets of sticky rice for a total of 30 Baht, less than a dollar, stayed home and did almost nothing: I slept and read blogs all day, eating only sticky rice and bottled water.

These things happen now and then. Poo says my stomach is cleaning itself out to prepare for Nepal. Maybe. Apart from the physical discomfort, though, it was a good day, a very lazy day.

For some reason I have been reading a lot of economics. Maybe Kris got me started. I read a couple of books by Stiglitz, and liked them, so I have been reading his stuff. I also have been reading the blog by Paul Krugman.

These guys have convinced me that this economic recession is very serious. As usual, Bush will be proven wrong.

For good news, Obama seems to be doing well. Arshia calls him "a ray of hope in a darkening world." The McCain camp is a disgrace, with the lowest type of scum-sucking ditch pigs responding to his robocalls. I know some of you students are considering going to the USA for university. I'm not sure that's a good idea, but at least they have good professors, like Stiglitz, Krugman, or my old friend Jon Isham.

Nice to know I'm inspiring my ex-math teacher into reading economics. Try the Freakonomics blog; its done by the people who wrote the Freakonomics book - which BTW is very good.

If only my math teacher could inspire me to read mathematics :)
