I'm in Kathmandu now. It was hard to kiss the boys good-bye, and my heart sank when Poo told me "I miss you already" two hours before I left, but I'm over it. It's nice to be on the Subcontinent again.
Thamel is lots of fun. I went to a cafe called Reggae, and was greeted by an image of Jimi Hendrix! It's OK, Jimi would have loved it if he had lived to see the Reggae Explosion that took over the world. The band was about to start, and I was amusing myself looking at the posters embellished with giant cannabis leaves that warned: the use of drugs is NOT prohibited and smokers will NOT be prosecuted, and just then the power went out, leaving the base and guitar players miffed, so I had to try the next place.
In this world of Globalizacism and Corporate Sterility, it's nice to find a place with some soul and character.
