Happiest Moments

I'm really happy now. I don't know why.

Perhaps it's because I have a beautiful wife, an easy life, two fabulous children, good health, a wonderful country to live in, and safety and security.

But I don't think so. It is more about books.

I've just finished Denis Johnson's Tree of Smoke. Thank God I've never been in a war. I don't believe in God, but I still like the expression "Thank God."

I am remembering the happiest moments of my life. We lived in a simple one-room apartment and Poo was pregnant with Jason. Poo loves to sleep anyway, but when she was pregnant, she really loved to sleep. So, every Saturday morning, I would wake up early and she would be sleeping near me. Just for fun, I went to the "balcony" and read, pencil in hand, I. M. Herstein's Topics in Algebra. It was a difficult book and I finished only half of it before Jason was born.

Those were the happiest moments of my life. I am so lucky that I love books. I learned that from my father.

If my boys read this blog ten years from now, I want them to know this about me: that's what makes me happy: books and my family.
