Holiday is being good to me. I need to do this more often.
Yesterday was Jason’s birthday. To give Poo some time off, I took him to a Digital Playzone. That’s dangerous, because when it’s time to leave, he usually wants to fight. But this time, on holiday, I let him play the Doraemon machines until he was tired. Finally, he said, “Daddy, let’s go.”
Jason loves Doraemon. It’s pretty sick, these Japanese cartoons. The kids are playing Russian Roulette and severing each other with hacksaws, but it’s only comics, so I guess it’s OK. We bought Jason only one present, a Doraemon DVD from the local 7-11. He watched it intensely. At one point, Poo and Thun came running to me. I was in the other room, “working” on the computer.
“Daddy! Look!” they laughed. “This is YOUR SON!” I went to see Jason. It was a good-bye scene in the Doraemon movie, and Jason was crying!
Poo and Thun were in stitches: they were holding their sides laughing so hard. “He gets it from you!” they laughed, “crying at a movie.”
It’s OK, he’s a sensitive boy. He laughs a lot, too.
