Today was another good day. I am still ecstatic about India's victory over Australia.
I took the boys for six hours today, to give Poo a chance to take a long shower, get a massage, exercise, and do the things she likes to do.
First we went to the park. They loved the exercise machines, which they see as games. But the park was too hot, even for Jason. So I took them to the sports section of a shopping mall and they practiced their putting. They love to "play golf." Jason holds the putter like a pool cue and hits the ball not with the side but with the nose of the putter. Naturally, he sucks. Eventually, he grabbed the ball and put it one cm from the hole. He nosed it in, threw up his arms and shouted "Yeah!"
We went to our school. I was hoping to take them to the playground but it was "closed: under construction." So we tried the gym but it was locked. I took them to the nets to practice some cricket, but there was only one tennis ball and some greedy kid snapped it up and gave it to his Mom even though he was at soccer practice. Finally, we found the gymnastics area. Thun had a great time, swinging from the bars and jumping on the mini-trampoline used in the vault. I was worried about letting Jason on the balance beam, but he was OK. He didn't even try to walk. He just jumped off and crashed into the padding!
"Fun, Jason?" I asked.
"Fun! Again!" he demanded, and we repeated that cycle for 15 minutes.
I guess these are the small pleasures of being a Dad.
