Off to OZ

Well, I’m off to Australia. And part of me is wondering, WHY?

It’s M-rock’s fault, and Dhoni’s, too.

I’m going to watch the Boxing Day Test Match in Melbourne. Of course, I will cheer India. Of course, India will get slaughtered, and I will get drenched by a bunch of Australians who think it’s amusing to dump their Fosters on the idiotic Caucasian in a sky-blue Sahara India kit.

Cheering against Australia in cricket is like cheering against Death in nature. And when Australia is home, it’s like rooting against the lion and cheering for the old, lame zebra on the Serengeti.

It all started because M-Rock won a lakh of rupees for an article he wrote about our adventure to Tibet. Those 100,000 rupees could finance a new adventure. So he emailed me, “shall we go to support India at the MCG on Boxing Day?’ Just then, Dhoni led India to their glorious and dramatic victory in the World 20/20 Championship. I was euphoric with India fever, so I emailed back: “let’s do it!”

In the morning, I will be 8 hours on the plane. I’m sure it will be fun when I get there. They’re forecasting rain.
