Bangalore

Bangalore is lovely. The temperature is a little bit cool. Last night I went to the theater with two clever people.

I am attending FOSS.IN, a conference of clever people. Today I am learning about tarballs, tarpits, and tarbombs, but I don't understand most of what is being said, so I am surfing the internet while the teacher is talking. He is a really smart French guy, Sam Hocevar, who utterly dislikes blogs but writes one anyway.

I am also using Wikipedia to try to figure out what he is talking about. Naughty, naughty, student! Now I understand my students better.

The conference provides one-click, unencrypted, free wireless. It took me about two seconds to get on the internet.

I'm about the oldest person at the conference, and probably the dumbest, too. The place is teeming with corporate recruiters, for companies like Google India, but I'm sure they don't want to hire me!

Mr. Mick: I forgot how rare and wonderful is the experience of hanging out with "nonworking Mick"! I'm looking forward with much excitement. I'm practically "nonworking" myself!

Jason knows about triangles and circles? I should have been a math teacher! All my 3 year old boys want to do is work out and ride their bikes.

I took off Shane's training wheels yesterday. I gave him a hard push and some encouragement. As he sailed straight ahead pedaling furiously, I distinctly remember thinking, "What was I waiting for?" About 2 seconds later he started veering left and had no idea what to do. After a long, painful arc he sailed over the handlebars in a dramatic crash. He got up, and didn't cry. He looked at me and said, "Put the wheels back on." I did.
