Today was a good day. I attended a course and learned about Microsoft Excel. I'm not a big fan of Microsoft, but, like they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
There were three students in the class; two lady accountants, one Indian and one Thai, and myself. The instructor was a Hong-Kong Chinese guy half my age. He was really smart. He knew a lot about Excel but he didn't know a lot about mathematics. At one point, he said, "this is something called stddev, I think it means standard deviation. Some people use it for something."
The two lady accountants screeched "I remember" and they were sketching the Bell curve with their hands. I shut them up and gave an impromptu lecture on the Gaussian distribution, which nobody understood.
"Oh yeah," said the Chinese guy, the teacher. "All I remember is the curve!" and he, too, started sketching the Bell curve in thin air.
