Decision Time

Many students are asking: will you come back next year?

They are perceptive but they are young. Today, it seems a disaster if I don't return. But next year, they will forget me after the first homework assignment.

I am lucky to be a math teacher. I have many opportunities. Really, six years at one school is enough. I understand that in S. Korea a teacher is forced to change schools after five years. Those Koreans are smart: always battling against corruption.

I have become corrupt.

Tomorrow I meet with the big boss. This school has been very good to me. They want me to come back. Honestly, I want to come back, too, because I love Thailand and I like my job. But Poo and Thun are more important. They want to see America. I try to tell them, "it's not as good as it looks in the movies!" But until they see for themselves, they cannot understand.

Little Jason, he's too young to understand. Thailand or America, he will say the same thing: "Dad! I want to play games!" What a healthy attitude!
