The Times Between

My life is plain, simple and boring. Basically, there's work, family and the times traveling between work and home. But I like work (the teaching part), and I love my family, and the times between aren't bad; I usually occupy my mind by thinking about stupid stuff.

For example, tonight I was seated on the skytrain and I almost stood up for a woman who seemed to be pregnant; she had a little bulge in her belly. But then I thought to myself:

Wait. Suppose she's not pregnant but just a little fat. Then she
will be embarrassed that I stood up for her. Oh no! I'm staring at
her belly, but I think she really is pregnant. It's a small bulge but
she's awfully skinny, and that would be very unnatural if it's fat.

Just then, the woman sitting next to me stood up for the pregnant woman. Then I thought:

What an ass I am! Not standing up for a pregnant woman even though I was
staring at her belly! Now, should I stand up for the woman who stood up
for the pregnant woman? No, because she is good-looking, so they will
both look at me like: What?? you didn't stand up for the ugly, pregnant
woman but now you stand up for the beautiful woman who is not pregnant??
What a lech!!

Anyway, that's the stupid stuff I think about during the times between.
